3 Simple Steps You Need For Online Business Success (Without Compromising Your Faith)

Sep 28, 2025

When I first tried to start an online business, I made the same mistake almost everyone makes: I tried to do everything at once.

I felt I needed a polished website, multiple social media accounts, a content plan, email sequences, products, and a marketing strategy — all yesterday.

The result? Exhaustion, frustration, and a creeping sense of failure before I’d even really begun.

What I wish someone had told me back then is this: there are only three steps that actually matter. Once you focus on those, the overwhelm starts to lift, and building your business begins to feel possible — even exciting.

And the best part?

These steps are simple, faith-filled, and sustainable.

Let’s walk through them together.

Step 1: Build Your Audience

Every business begins with people.

You don’t need a fancy website or polished product before you start. What you do need is a clear understanding of who you are called to serve.

This is where so many get stuck — they try to reach everyone.

But the truth is, you’re not called to serve everyone. You’re called to serve someone specific. That clarity is what makes building an audience feel possible (and even exciting!).

When you know your God-given niche, everything else flows: your content, your offers, and even your confidence.

Step 2: Create Your Foundation

Once you know who you’re serving, the next step is giving them a place to connect with you. Think of this as building your online foundation — a home for your message and your mission.

This doesn’t mean setting up every social platform, launching a podcast, and building a website all at once. In fact, trying to do everything at once is what leads to burnout.

Instead, keep it simple: one platform, one funnel, one step at a time. Your foundation is less about where you show up and more about how consistently you show up for the people God has entrusted to you.

For me, I’ve chosen to focus on two simple platforms right now:

  • Facebook — because it allows me to build community and connect more personally with women who are on the same journey.
  • Pinterest — because it works quietly in the background, sending people to my blog and resources long after I’ve created the content.

Step 3: Share & Serve

This is where business starts to grow. But instead of thinking of “marketing” as selling, I encourage you to think of it as serving.

When you share your story, your encouragement, or your solution, you’re not pushing — you’re offering help to the people who need it. It’s an extension of ministry, not manipulation.

Launching means making your offer available and giving people the opportunity to say yes. And the beautiful part? You don’t need hype or gimmicks.

You just need a heart to serve and the courage to take a step forward.

👉 In future blogs and trainings, I’ll walk you through practical ways to launch with confidence and integrity. For now, keep your eyes on Step 1 — building an audience — because without people to serve, there’s nothing to launch.

Putting It All Together

Building an online business can be boiled down to this:

  1. Build Your Audience – Know Who You’re Called to Serve.
  2. Create Your Foundation – Give them a place to connect.
  3. Share & Serve – Launch your message and your mission with integrity.

You don’t need to do everything at once. You don’t even need to see the whole path right now. You simply need to take the first faithful step.

And that first step is simple: know your niche and start building your audience.

Mini Devotional

Verse: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” — Zechariah 4:10

Reflection: God doesn’t expect you to have it all figured out. He delights in your beginnings, your learning, your courage to start. Every big move of God in history began with someone taking one small, faithful step.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the vision You’ve placed in my heart. Help me to start small but strong, with eyes fixed on You. Give me the courage to take the next step, the wisdom to stay focused, and the faith to believe that what begins in seed form will grow into something that blesses many. Amen.

Stay Blessed,

Deborah 💛
