Feeling Stuck? How to Trust God’s Call and Start Your Faith-Based Business

Have you ever felt restless—like you’re meant for more but aren’t sure what to do next?
That uneasy place where comfort and calling seem to pull in different directions?
I’ve been there.
Whilst scrolling Instagram the other night (my guilty pleasure), I came across this quote:
“If you don’t like where you are, move. You are not a tree.” — Jim Rohn
It made me smile… and it made me think.
See, I use Instagram a bit like a vision board.
I follow accounts that bring joy and inspiration—faith, creativity, purpose—rather than those that chip away at self-esteem. (That might be another blog post one day!)
But that night, this little quote stopped my scroll.
It was simple—even obvious—but it felt like a gentle push from God.
Almost as if He was whispering, “It’s time to trust Me and take the next step.”
Often, we stay stuck—not because of God—but because we believe we can’t or shouldn’t move.
We tell ourselves things like:
“I’ve already invested too much.”
“This is just how life is now.”
“I don’t want to start over.”
And yet—if we’re honest—deep down we know that God has already lifted the roots.
Your season may have shifted, and He’s inviting you to follow Him into what’s next.
Movement Isn’t Always Physical
Moving doesn’t always mean packing boxes or crossing borders.
Sometimes it means shifting your mindset.
It means moving from fear to faith.
From frustration to surrender.
From “Why me?” to “Use me.”
I’ve had seasons where I did move physically.
After my husband passed away, I left Tasmania and returned to mainland Australia.
Back in Tasmania, everywhere I looked held a memory—every road, every view, every corner whispered of a life that no longer existed for me.
Leaving wasn’t about running away; it was about giving my heart space to breathe again. That move was painful and healing all at once.
Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a job, health challenges, or the unraveling of a cherished friendship, change touches us all in countless ways. These experiences can leave us yearning for a fresh start.
But you don’t always have to move physically to find healing.
Sometimes, the biggest changes happen inside us.
When you let go of what’s holding you back, you make space for God to do something new.
God often begins His greatest work not when we move to a new place, but when we realign our hearts.
Ask yourself: Where has comfort begun to feel like disobedience?
That question can spark honest reflection—and propel you forward in faith.
Because staying still in disobedience is far more uncomfortable than stepping out in trust.
Every Season Has an Expiry Date
That move taught me something I’ll always remember: every season comes to an end.
Endings aren’t failures—they’re invitations to step forward in faith.
Trees are meant to stay rooted, but we’re not.
We’re designed to grow, adapt, and follow God’s leading—even in uncertainty.
In today’s world, uncertainty can take many forms.
Maybe you’re in a job that drains your joy.
Perhaps you’ve outgrown a friendship that keeps you small.
Or maybe you’ve felt that persistent nudge to start a business, ministry, or creative project that’s been sitting in your heart for years.
You can honour where you’ve been and still step toward where God is leading.
Because sometimes, healing doesn’t look like holding on.
It looks like loosening your grip and trusting that what’s ahead will be meaningful—because God is already there waiting for you.

It’s a reminder that God is deeply invested in the work of your hands — and that His Word is the best business mentor you’ll ever have.

Faith to Move Before You Feel Ready
“Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” — Genesis 12:1
When God told Abram to go, He didn’t give him a map—He gave him a promise.
Much like Abram’s journey into an unknown land, we’re often called to take our own leaps of faith.
Maybe yours looks like starting a podcast, changing careers, or launching the business idea that keeps tugging on your heart.
Abram didn’t know where he was going.
He didn’t have a timeline, a GPS, or a step-by-step plan.
All he had was the assurance that God would go with him.
And that was enough.
It’s such a powerful reminder, isn’t it?
God rarely gives us the full blueprint in advance.
He asks us to take the first step—and then reveals the next one as we walk.
When I first began rebuilding my life after loss, I didn’t have a clear roadmap.
I just felt that quiet voice whispering, “You’re not done yet.”
Starting again—especially as a woman of faith and a solo parent—felt a lot like Abram’s journey. I didn’t know how faith, finances, business, and purpose could all fit into one story.
But I sensed that God was inviting me to trust Him with the unknowns.
So, I started building—one small, faithful step at a time. I created resources, wrote words, and shared encouragement long before I had it all figured out. And piece by piece, He began connecting the dots.
That’s how faith works:
You move, even when it doesn’t make sense.
You plant seeds, even when you can’t see the harvest.
You trust that God’s promises are sturdier than your plans.
Obedience—following God’s call—is what brings clarity for the next step.
A Gentle Reminder
If you don’t like where you are—move.
Not out of panic or pride,
but out of peace and purpose.
Pray. Listen. Take the next step, even if it’s small.
You’re not a tree.
You were made to move, grow, and walk in the direction of your calling.
If you’ve felt a nudge to start an online business but feel unsure or overwhelmed about where to begin, you’re not alone.
God often invites us to build in faith, even when we can’t see the full plan.

📜 Verse:
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
🕊 Reflection:
God isn’t asking you to forget your past—He’s calling you to make room for what He’s doing now.
To apply this, set aside a few moments each day to pray and reflect on new opportunities that align with His leading.
Write down one small step you can take this week to embrace change—maybe reaching out to someone new, exploring an idea on your heart, or simply saying yes to what feels uncertain.
When you trust Him enough to move, even one step, He meets you there with fresh strength and surprising grace.
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reminding me that I’m not meant to stay stuck.
Give me courage to move where You’re leading,
and peace to trust Your timing even when I can’t see the full path.
Amen.
Stay Blessed,
Deborah 💛
