When Chaos Hits Your Business, How Do You Stay in Christ’s Peace?

Aug 17, 2025

If you’ve ever felt like you’re barely keeping your head above water — in life or in business — you’re not alone. We’ve all had those days where frustration rises, doubt creeps in, and you wonder, “How do I keep going when everything feels so overwhelming?”

I’ve been there too. I know what it’s like in business when things don’t work out the way you hoped. You launch a new offer and hear nothing but crickets. You spend hours building a lead magnet, only to get one download — probably from your mum. Or you pour your heart into helping a client, and then they disappear without a word. It feels like chaos, and the temptation is to let that chaos rule your heart.

But Scripture reminds us of something powerful:

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.” — Colossians 3:15

The question is: how do we actually let Christ’s peace rule when everything around us is shaking?

What’s Ruling Your Heart? (Colossians 3:15)

Paul doesn’t say, “Try to manufacture peace” or “wait until everything calms down to feel peace.” He says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.”

That word rule is important.

Something is always ruling your heart. It might be frustration when sales are low. It might be doubt when your tech breaks for the third time. It may be fear when bills pile up faster than payments arrive.

But Christ’s peace doesn’t elbow its way in. We have to let it. That means choosing — moment by moment — who will rule. Will it be frustration, doubt, and fear? Or will it be Christ’s peace?

Set Your Heart and Mind Above (Colossians 3:1–4)

Paul goes on to say:

“Set your hearts on things above, where Christ is… Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:1–2

It’s so easy to set our minds on earthly things: likes, follows, email open rates, client invoices. None of those things are bad, but when they dominate our hearts, peace disappears.

When we’re stuck in the depths of negativity — replaying what didn’t work, what went wrong, or what still feels missing — we’re not setting our minds above. And when we don’t lift our eyes, we sink deeper into discouragement.

But when we remember our true identity — hidden with Christ, secure in Him — nothing can alter that. Your business can flop, your plans can fail, but your identity in Christ never changes. That truth alone can steady your heart.

The Example of Paul and Silas (Acts 16:22–25)

One of my favourite pictures of peace in chaos is in Acts 16. Paul and Silas were beaten, thrown in jail, and chained. If anyone had a reason to panic, it was them.

Yet the Bible says:

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” — Acts 16:25

Imagine that. Their bodies were in chains, but their hearts were free. They weren’t denying reality. They were reorienting their hearts to the One who was greater than their reality.

For us in business, the “chains” might look like unpaid invoices, constant tech glitches, or the heavy burden of responsibility. But the invitation is the same: don’t let chaos have the final word. Sing. Pray. Fix your eyes above.

Peace is not the absence of problems. It’s the presence of Christ in the middle of them.

Living a Life of Peace (Even When Business Is in Chaos)

Here’s the truth: living in Christ’s peace doesn’t mean your business will always run smoothly.

It means you can walk in peace even when it doesn’t.

  • Your launch flops — you can still have peace.
  • A client ghosts you — you can still have peace.
  • You feel behind on everything — you can still have peace.

That’s not denial.

That’s choosing to let peace rule rather than frustration.

And when you live this way, people notice.

The way you show up online, the way you speak to your audience, the way you handle setbacks — it all carries the fragrance of peace.

And in a world full of noise, striving, and anxiety, peace is magnetic. People are desperate for it.

A Bigger Vision of Peace (Revelation 22:1–5)

Revelation gives us a breathtaking picture of the eternal peace we’re headed for:

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb… No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him… And they will reign for ever and ever.” — Revelation 22:1–5

This is our eternal reality.

The Prince of Peace ruling forever.

A kingdom where chaos has no place.

When you anchor your vision in this eternal truth, it puts today’s chaos in perspective.

Yes, the business might feel overwhelming now.

Yes, life might feel messy. But there’s a greater reality — one that shapes how you live, lead, and build today.

Bringing Peace Into Your Business

Here’s what this looks like practically:

  • Before writing a post, pray: “Lord, let Your peace flow through these words.”
  • Before a sales call, ask: “Jesus, rule in my heart so I can serve with peace, not pressure.”
  • When something goes wrong, pause and breathe: “Christ, You are in control.”

When you bring the peace of Christ into your business, you’re not just calming yourself — you’re being a peacemaker for others. And that’s what this world is craving.

Closing Thoughts

One thing I know for sure about running an online business...chaos will come, things won’t always go as planned. Life won’t always feel smooth. But peace isn’t found in the absence of chaos. It’s found in letting Christ rule your heart in the middle of it.

So the next time things don’t work out, when the numbers don’t add up, or when the silence feels heavy — pause.

Ask yourself: “What’s ruling my heart right now?” Then let Christ’s peace take its rightful place.

Because when you do, your business becomes more than a strategy. It becomes a vessel for His peace.

Stay Blessed,

💭 Reflection

Peace isn’t something you wait for once things get better. It’s a gift you receive and allow to rule, right in the middle of the mess. When you let Christ rule, it changes not just how you feel, but how you lead, serve, and show up.

🙏 Prayer:

Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace, I invite You to rule in my heart today. When chaos rises, help me to look up and remember that You are in control. Let my life and my business carry the peace only You can give, so that others are drawn to You through me. Amen.
